About Us
The Morehouse School of Medicine Office of Global Health Equity works across each of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ vision imperatives:
- Education: To drive global health policy change and implementation, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ prioritizes the internationalization of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ curricula to successfully train undergraduate, graduate and medical students.
- Research: Evolving demographic, political and globalization contexts continue to drive Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s focus on addressing the health and social issues of immigrant and refugee populations throughout the State of Georgia.
- Clinical Healthcare: Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students, doctors, faculty, and staff are continuously collaborating with fellow health scientists and treating patients locally and in Africa, Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean.
- Service: Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students, doctors, faculty, and staff working in underserved global communities, learn culturally-competent communication and care.
Office Objectives:
- To facilitate innovative research, service opportunities, and health professions education;
- To build sustainable partnerships to advance health equity, reduce global burden of
diseases, and address global development issues;
- To develop, teach, and evaluate culturally relevant interdisciplinary curricula for diverse learners that drive global health policy change and implementation.
The establishment of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Office of Global Health will help to improve the health care provided to Georgia immigrant and refugee populations and improve the cultural competency of our Ï㽶ÊÓƵ learners and healthcare providers.
